國片「總舖師」才剛上映就掀起話題，第一天就創下北市200萬、全台600萬台幣的佳績，是繼春節「大尾鱸鰻」後最賣座的國片，監製葉如芬希望「總舖師」能一舉突破億元大關，將暑期國片風潮再次帶動起來。

鬼才導演陳玉勳自「熱帶魚」、「愛情來了」之後，不滿台灣拍片環境離開電影圈13年，期間拍攝許多如「張君雅」、「你累了嗎」等廣為人知的廣告，這次再度出手，將自身風格與庶民趣味融合台灣獨有辦桌文化，連華爾街日報也譽為浪漫喜劇。
